How much does open-riser staircases cost in Tennessee?
An existing closed stair is not necessarily suitable for riser removal. Its risers may contribute to stiffness, and the resulting openings must be checked against applicable requirements before a conversion is proposed.
What should I consider before open-riser staircases?
Open risers allow light through the spaces between treads, but those openings are part of a complete stair design. Tread depth, thickness, supporting members, and guarding need to be considered together.
How do I prepare for open-riser staircases?
Send side-view photos that reveal the stair supports and note whether children or pets use the staircase. Discuss opening limits, underside appearance, and cleaning access before choosing an open-riser configuration.
